JoAnn and Charles returned to Tallulah, Louisiana, in 1996 and eventually settled in Shreveport, Louisiana, where they managed a labor agency until their second retirement in 2010.

She loved to shop and spoil her grandchildren with gifts, candy, and old fashion southern home cooking. JoAnn was an avid reader, often spending time reading her favorite books. She formed the foundation of her family, and she lived a selfless life always giving of herself for others.
