John Harold Hicks, Sr.

John Harold Hicks, Sr. passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 77.

John was born on July 23, 1947, to his parents Coy Harrison Hicks and Elma Ward Hicks.  He retired from Marathon LeTourneau after 25 years of service.  He was a member and past president of the Old Whitaker Hunting Club.  He loved to garden, often having several gardens at a time, but his passion was growing watermelons.  He enjoyed watching Ole Miss football and turkey hunting.  He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Clarice Messer, daughter Mary Frances Hicks, son John Harold Hicks, Jr., and grandson Tanner Harrison Lee Page.

He is survived by his son Trent Hicks, daughter Johnalin Page, brother Franklin Hicks (Trudy), sister Louise Vickers, his companion of 24 years Joann Pfannenstiel, along with her son Roy Powell and daughter Stephanie Dickhute (Brett), and their children Madison Dickhute and Reagan Dickhute, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Billy Brumfield.  Burial will follow in Redbone Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Reynolds, Michael Cothran, Greg Lloyd, Chandler Hicks, Brad Grammer and David Bridges.  Honorary pallbearers Dwayne McClurg, John Bull, Charles Dulaney, Charles Gamble, Lonnie Allen and Ricky Nevels.

The family wishes memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
