Joyce Tucker Hilderbrand

Joyce Tucker Hilderbrand, a devoted mother and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 81. 

She was born Joyce Marie Hunter on January 25, 1944 in Banks, Arkansas. Joyce grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys of life. She had an adventurous spirit — happiest with a fishing pole in her hands, out in the woods surrounded by the beauty of nature, or working in her yard creating her very own garden of Eden. Whether it was a quiet morning drinking coffee on the patio with loved ones or a cold drink by the fire on a river bank, she found peace and purpose in God’s wonderful world.  More than anything, she loved unconditionally. Her children were her greatest pride and she filled their lives with love, laughter and unwavering support.  She was a gifted barber — giving the best haircuts in town, many times in her kitchen chair or after regular hours in her small, home-based shop. Family, friends and neighbors all knew they could count on her, not just for a trim, but for a chat, a laugh, and a reminder of what really matters in life.

Joyce is survived by her four loving children, Celeste Moody (Johnny), Cindi Newton (Timmy), Jim Tucker (Sonya Lee) and Justin (Tammy); thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister Shirley Cleveland; three brothers, Don Hunter (Eloise), Leonard Hunter (Susan) and John Hunter (Debbie); many nieces and nephews; and, countless friends who will forever cherish her memory.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hilderbrand; her parents, Orie Edward Hunter and Vera Belle Dearman Hunter;  four brothers (Dewey, Clyde, Orie Jr. and Joe); and, three sisters (Margaret, Claudia and Dianna).

Pallbearers are Cole Medders, Jonathan Moody, Casey Dial, Codey Dial, Hunter Dial and Corey Dial. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Tucker, Johnny Moody, Shay Hughes and Clay Wilson.

Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her kids, grandkids, great-grands and in the love she showed to everyone. 

Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, MS from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with services to follow.  Interment at Utica Cemetery immediately following the service.
