Judd Robert Castle, age 86 of Vicksburg, Mississippi passed away on March 1, 2026.
He was born in Eupora, Mississippi, Webster County, to the late Tom Dudley "Jack" Castle and Selma Stallings Castle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Jobe Castle and his brother, Tom Dudley Castle, Jr.
He is survived by his sisters, Lady Jane Vowell (Yogi) of Huntsville, Alabama, Judy Williams (Jerry) of Hixson, Tennessee and Dorothy Castle of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Additional survivors include his niece, Lady Vowell Smith, nephew, Judd Alan Vowell, great niece, Corinne Castle Smith, and great nephews, Duncan Smith, Gibson Smith and Charlie Vowell.
Judd will be remembered for his kind, gentle spirit and his devotion to family, church, friends, stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
After graduating from Eupora High School, Judd accepted a job with Babcock & Wilcox in West Point, Mississippi, where he advanced quickly. A lifelong sports fan of SEC football, he was known for his detailed knowledge of the game and for writing lighthearted poetic jingles following rival matchups. This earned him the nickname "football fanatic" among coworkers.
He later joined Olan Mills, traveling throughout the Southeast as a photographer and helping families preserve lasting memories. He eventually moved into the Church Directory division where his talent for capturing portraits earned him numerous awards. It was during his time with Olan Mills that he met his wife, Marie. After relocating to Vicksburg, he became an active member of Goodrum Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and lay leader. He was admired for his positive attitude, strong faith and joyful spirit, which remained constant throughout his life.
Pallbearers will be Todd Moore, Christopher Joel "CJ" Mann, Jr., Glenn Conrad, Rev. Jonas Horn and Rev. Brandon Davidson.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Goodrum Baptist Church with Rev. Jonas Horn and Rev. Tony Monk presiding the service. Visitation will be at 10 am. Burial will be in Eupora Cemetery, Eupora, Mississippi on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 1 pm.
