Kenneth Mitchell Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Mitchell, 86, was born on September 18, 1939, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 21, 2025, at his home. 

He attended Utica High School and graduate of Draughon's Business College. He started working at Deposit Guaranty National Bank where he met the love of his life, Ollie Pearl Nieman. They were married on January 1, 1959, and would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on January 1, 2026. He worked in the banking business for over 40 years, retiring from Consumer National Bank as Vice President.

He was a faithful member of Lakeshore Baptist Church in Byram while living in Jackson and rejoined Utica Baptist Church when he moved back to his birthplace in Utica, MS in 2004. He served many positions in the church and loved serving as Sunday School Directors for many years. His hobby was raising chickens. He was quoted last week that "I have had chickens all my life"

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everette Mitchell, Sr. and mother, Nellie Mae Newman Mitchell, older brother, Lewis Everette Mitchell, Jr. and brother-in-law, Joe Sigrest.

He is survived by his wife, Ollie Mitchell of Utica, son Ricky (Cindy) Mitchell of Byram, and daughter Sherry (Gary) Cooper of Utica. He has four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Megan) Cooper of Brandon, Michael Cooper of Utica, Kelly Mitchell Blackwell of Bogue Chitto, Brent Mitchell of Gluckstadt and six great grandchildren, Landon Blackwell, Andrew Blackwell, Colton Blackwell, Murray Cooper, Wes Cooper, Emmaline Cooper and baby boy Cooper arriving in April 2026, sister Pat Mitchell Sigrest and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

He has spent the last five years being a loving and faithful caregiver for Ollie.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Cooper, Michael Cooper, Brent Mitchell, Landon Blackwell, Andrew Blackwell, David Dooley and Scott Dooley. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Lambert, Pat Matthews, Bill Orcutt and Debo Yates. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M.  with services at 11 A.M. at Utica Baptist Church in Utica, MS with Dennis Franklin officiating. Interment will be at Utica Cemetery in Utica, MS.

Donations can be made to Gideon International, Utica Baptist Church, or Utica Cemetery Association in his memory.
