Larry Gene Fanning

VICKSBURG—Larry Gene Fanning, 85, of Vicksburg, passed away November 6, 2023, at his home.

Born February 13, 1938, to Felix Voydean Fanning and Eva Lee Cook Fanning Lane in Oklahoma, he moved to California where he worked as a sharecropper and picker. He was a member of the Vicksburg Community for 25 years.

Larry was self-employed as a carpenter and owned and operated Double Eagle Construction. He was an avid animal lover as well. He also wrote and published a collection of short stories entitled Short Stories, Some a Little Longer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Wild; brother, Ronnie Fanning; and stepson, Brian Fanning.

He is survived by his three brothers, Dan Fanning, Earl Fanning, and Gary Fanning and his life partner Beverly White.  Larry is also survived by his beloved dogs, Dixie, Liza Kate, and Rusty.

In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that donations be made to Animal Rescue Fund 395 West Mayes Jackson, MS 39213.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
