Leigh was born July 17, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida. He moved with his family, at the age of 5, to New Hebron, Mississippi. He graduated from New Hebron High School in 1981 and met the love of his life, Ruth Shirley, in 1982. They were married on March 21, 1983, and were about to celebrate of 43 years of marriage. In Ruth, Leigh truly found his soulmate. The couple moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1989, and Leigh began work for International Paper Company, where he was employed until his death. He was a hard worker, loyal to his company, and made lifelong friendships with his coworkers.
Leigh was most passionate about his family, whom he loved dearly. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, was so very proud of his children, and absolutely adored his grandchildren, who affectionally call him Grump. He will be sorely missed by family and friends alike, who will miss his smile, his quiet humor, and his joy for life.
Leigh loved to hunt and fish, both of which he was extremely skilled at. He used to say about fishing, his number one recreational pastime, “I don’t go fishin’ … I go catchin’” and that was evident by the haul of fish he always came home with. He was also a Grill Master, elevating those skills to true art. You didn’t turn down an invitation to eat when Leigh was manning the grill. He was a familiar face at Super Junior and Kroger. He didn’t mind making the grocery runs, and he was never too busy to stop for a chat when friends ran into him there.
Leigh was preceded in death by his father, Billy Fraysier, Sr., and his granddaughter, Harley Faith Massey. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Shirley Fraysier; his children; son Leigh Thomas Fraysier, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter Katelyn Fraysier Massey (Neal) of Vicksburg; and son Samuel Fraysier (Katelyn) of Vicksburg. The legacy of “Grump” will also live on through his beautiful grandchildren: Aiden, Avery, Charleigh and Brody. Leigh is also survived by his mom, Mrs. Shirley Fraysier of New Hebron, Mississippi; brothers Billy (Bridget) of Monticello, Mississippi; and Kenneth (Susan) Fraysier of Tupelo, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
