Lena M. Watkins passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 83.
Lena was born in Yazoo City, MS on August 2, 1941, the daughter of Hubert McBroom and Cathleen Fuller McBroom.
Lena was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, but above all she was a devout Christian. She loved the Lord, and her life exemplified what it meant to walk with him daily. Her church and her church family held a special place in her heart. She had been a member of Highland Baptist Church over 40 years. She held numerous roles there over those 40 years. She continued to attend up until the last few months of her illness. She always had a smile and a kind word and even throughout her illness she continued that same disposition despite her health challenges.
Her pride and joy were her 2 grandsons, Kirk and Conner. She found immense enjoyment hearing about their hunting and fishing adventures and watching them play sports and other activities. Her memory will continue to shine bright among her family and friends. We were truly blessed to have such a Godly mother and Granny.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord shall give me on that day. That day came on February the 25th.
She is predeceased by her husband Richard G. Watkins, brothers George McBroom, Hubert McBroom, Cecil McBroom and John McBroom, and sisters Mary Stewart and Janie McBroom.
She is survived by her sons Gordon Watkins (Carol) and Curtis Watkins, daughter Debbie Caldwell, sister Sherry Meacham, grandchildren Kirk Watkins and Conner Watkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
