Lillie Jewell Newton passed away on December 28, 2024. She was 92.
Lillie was born in Benoit, MS on August 31, 1932, the daughter of the late James Robert Watson and Maggie Elizabeth Kelly Watson. She had resided in Grace, MS for many years. She was an avid flower gardener and was well known for her flowers. She also enjoyed raising chickens. She attended First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, MS.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Boyd and her grandson Christopher Boyd.
She is survived by her daughters Frances Edwards (Jerry Paul), Dorothy Costner, Donna McGuffin (Dallas) and Terri Taylor (Jeff), son Eddie Holcomb (Gwen), 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at First Baptist of Rolling Fork, MS. Bro. Britt Williamson will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan, MS. Services are under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Davis, Taylor Davis, Will Holcomb, Chad Taylor, Jay Taylor, Travis Matthews and Tyler Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rolling Fork Baptist Church.
