Lillie Veatrice Ramsey

Mrs. Lillie Veatrice Ramsey passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at her home in Newellton, Louisiana, at the age of 100.

Mrs. Ramsey was born June 25, 1921, in Sarepta, Louisiana, to the union of William Lee Wilkins and Lillie Leona Souter Wilkins. Mrs. Ramsey was a strong Christian lady and was a faithful member of Newellton First Baptist Church. She drove a school bus and worked as a seamstress for many years in Tensas Parish. Mrs. Ramsey was a loving mother and a friend to all.

Mrs. Ramsey is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillie Wilkins; her husband, James Wilmer Ramsey, Sr.; and 11 siblings.

Mrs. Ramsey is survived by four children, Janet Smith (Gerald) of Star, Mississippi, Brenda Fuller of Newellton, Louisiana, James W. Ramsey, Jr. (Cheryl) of Austin, Texas, and Bruce Alan Ramsey (Frances) of West Monroe, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 38 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

Graveside services for Mrs. Lillie Veatrice Ramsey will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana, with Bro. Larry Foster officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM at Legion Memorial Cemetery.
