Louie Doyle Obituary

Services for Louie Allen Doyle, age 89, of Newellton, Louisiana, will be held at Newellton Union Church on Monday, July 20, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with Johnny Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the ceremony.

Louie passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1931, in Haynes, Arkansas. The son of the late Clyde (Dad) Doyle and Gladys Laurel Plummer (Mama) Doyle, Louie graduated from Newellton High School in 1951, and entered the United States Air Force in January, 1952, as a member of the 1927th Airways and Air Communications Service Squadron. Louie and his high school sweetheart, Jimmie Ruth Keyes, were married on July 3, 1952, in Bellville, Illinois, while he was serving his country.

While serving his year-long tour in Greenland, his first son, Stevie, was born back home in Newellton where Jimmie Ruth was living with his family at Winter Quarters Plantation. Louie came home from Greenland when Stevie was eight months old, and the family relocated to Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, until his honorable discharge in January, 1956. After moving home to Newellton, his son, David, was born in March, 1956. Louie was hired as Farm Manager of Franklin Plantation by Mr. Ben Burnside in March, 1957, and the family moved to Franklin Plantation. His third son, Don Wade, was born in 1959, followed by his daughter, Nancy, in 1969. Louie retired from Franklin Plantation in January, 1995, and moved to Lake Bruin. He didn’t stay home long because that spring, he was approached by his brother, James, to hold the Farm Manager position at Cypress Grove Plantation where he spent 13 more years farming.

Since 2008, Louie or “Pop”, as he was affectionately known by his kids and grandkids, has enjoyed living on Lake Bruin and hunting with his family in Port Gibson. He loved a party and most loved when his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were visiting.

Louie is preceded in death by his son, Don Wade Doyle, and his siblings, Dean Doyle, James Doyle, Edna Doyle Gunter, Bobby Doyle, and Ronnie Doyle.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jimmie Ruth Keyes Doyle. Survivors also include two sons, Steven Wayne Doyle and wife Serena of Newellton, Louisiana, and David Allen Doyle and wife Shanda of Port Gibson, Mississippi; one daughter, Nancy Doyle Causey and husband Clay of West Monroe, Louisiana; and one daughter-in-law, Lynn Doyle Riggs of Vicksburg, Mississippi. His eight grandchildren are Julie Doyle Ramsey (Jeff), Lindsey Doyle Bradley (Chase), Matthew Wayne Doyle (Ashlin), Lexie Doyle Alexander (Kevin), Austin Wade Salazar, Ainsley Laurel Salazar, David Wade Doyle, and Kori Catherine Causey. His ten great-grandchildren include Kaylee Ann Doyle, Aubrey Lee Ramsey, Carson Doyle Ramsey, Brooks Matthew Doyle, Jude Scott Ramsey, Avery Reese Alexander, Asher Mayes Ramsey, Elvie Grace Bradley, Lila Catherine Doyle, and Camdon Wade Alexander. Survivors also include two sisters, Betty Sue Doyle Pilkinton of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Peggy Doyle Waddill and husband Roger of Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as a number of loving nieces and nephews.

Honoring Pop as pallbearers are his grandsons, Matt Doyle, Austin Salazar, Wade Doyle, Jeff Ramsey, Chase Bradley, and Kevin Alexander.
