Louise Jones Fortenberry

Louise Jones Fortenberry passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah, Louisiana, at the age of 99. She was born May 19, 1925, in Amory, Mississippi, to Eddie and Leona Stanford Jones.

Mrs. Fortenberry was a long-time member of Northside Church of Christ in Lake Providence, Louisiana, and later Tallulah Church of Christ. She was a telephone operator for South Central Bell for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and keeping her grandchildren. She loved taking care of her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very humble person and let her husband, “Papa Ray”, shine.

Mrs. Fortenberry is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Fortenberry; granddaughter, Jennifer Marsh; great grandsons, Maddox and Hudson Marsh; sons, Terry Lynn Jones and Charles Jones, and two brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Fortenberry is survived by her son, Danny Ray Fortenberry (Janice); daughter, Beverly Marsh (Larry); grandchildren, Rob Fortenberry, Troy Fortenberry, Brent Fortenberry, Mack Marsh, Cade Marsh, Laura Noland; great-grandchildren, Hager Fortenberry, Emily Fortenberry, Jon Fortenberry, Jackson Fortenberry, Thompson Fortenberry, Anderson Marsh, Camille Marsh, Georgia Marsh, Banks Marsh, Knox Noland, Cole Marsh, Samuel Marsh, and Rayley Fortenberry.

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Fortenberry will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Northside Church of Christ in Lake Providence with Wayne Parker and Ricky Parker officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Lake Providence City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mack Marsh, Cade Marsh, Rob Fortenberry, Troy Fortenberry, Brent Fortenberry, Hager Fortenberry, and Jackson Fortenberry.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tallulah Academy, Northside Church of Christ in Lake Providence, or Tallulah Church of Christ.

The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Nursing Home, Dr. Corey Albritton, and Crossroads Hospice nursing staff for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.
