Marie Nance Nichols

Marie Nance Nichols passed away on December 19, 2025, at the Community Place in Brandon, MS.  She was 97.  Marie was born in Philadelphia, MS on October 25, 1928, to Myrtle and Jessie Nance.  Following her high school graduation, she moved to Jackson, MS and attended Jackson Commercial College and received certificates in Business and Accounting.  While in school she met Caley Nichols, the love of her life.  They were married in 1949.

Marie worked full time supporting her husband while he studied for the ministry.  After his graduation from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, they served together in multiple churches in Mississippi, Georgia and Montana.  While in Montana, they were appointed to the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board and traveled throughout Montana serving the Lord and sharing the good news of Christ.  In 1990 they moved to Vicksburg, MS to be near their daughter, Gwen Robertson.  Marie attended Highland Baptist Church in Vicksburg where she taught Sunday School and Bible Studies. 

She is survived by one brother, Everett Nance (Nancy) of Knoxville, TN; her son Gary Nichols (Carolyn) of Milton, FL; daughter Gwen Nichols Robertson (Rick) of Ridgeland, MS; grandchildren Molly Nichols Holton, Elizabeth Nichols McCaddy (Kevin), Denise Robertson Warnock (Chris) and Curtis Robertson; great-grandchildren Parker and Kendall McCaddy, Frances and Sylvie Holton, Caleb Warnock, Cora and Tucker Robertson.

A graveside service will be held at Vicksburg City Cemetery (Cedar Hill) in Vicksburg, MS on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sandra Thomas officiating.  

Pallbearers will be great-grandson Tucker Robertson of Madison, MS, grandson Curtis Robertson of Madison, MS, son-in-law Rick Robertson of Ridgeland, MS, great-grandson Caleb Warnock of Brandson, MS, Chris Warnock of Brandson, MS, Robin Nichols and David Williams.
