Martha Ann Easterwood, 80, a former lifelong Vicksburg, Mississippi resident, then a Florida resident for the last 3 years, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 30, 2020, in Pensacola, FL at 7:31 AM. She was blessed with the company of family and friends throughout her various illnesses in and out of care facilities in the past year. We are sad to be without her, but know she is now rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and other loved ones. Martha loved Jesus and was a member of River Mountain Church of Yazoo City, MS. She loved to cook, enjoyed listening to gospel music and the fellowship with family and friends.
Martha was born February 10, 1939 to Raiford, Sr. and Mattie (Collins) Wigley. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Easterwood, Sr. She was the mother to 9 children: John Easterwood, Jr. (deceased), Tom Easterwood, Robert ‘Skip’ Easterwood (deceased), Anita C. Easterwood, Roy Easterwood, MaeBell Roberts, Dean Easterwood, Dianne Laubach and Deborah Britt. She was ‘Memaw’ to 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one sister, Gloria Horsley of Vicksburg, MS and preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and Raiford, Jr. Wigley and another sister, Nell Mozingo.
Martha was a graduate of Benton High School, Class of 1959. Later in life she was a candy striper, food service, a cosmetologist, held her insurance licensure. She went to travel agency school with a desire to work for a cruise line. She worked in support positions for several local businesses.
Pall bearers are Fred Humphries, John Humphries, Joe Humphries, Jonathan Hopkins, Monte Wigley, Dabo Mozingo, honorary Pall bearers Bobo Mozingo & David Bradford.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020, at Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg, MS. Visitation is 9am-11am, Service 11am, brief graveside service follows. Pastor David Humphreys of River Mountain Church in Yazoo City, will conduct the service
There will be a luncheon and fellowship for friends and family at Triumph Church, 136 Honeysuckle Lane, Vicksburg, MS. following the service. Luncheon provided and served by River Mountain Church, Yazoo City, MS.
Martha would like to encourage you to seek Jesus now, so that you too have abundant life now and a heavenly home upon passing. If you would like to know more Jesus simply ask anyone in our family.
