Melvin Ray Marshall went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 7, 2025. He was 85 years old.
Melvin was born on March 31, 1940, in Eden, MS to his parents J. T. Marshall and Martha Ella Cook Marshall. Melvin attended Culkin School. He worked as Market Manager for Vicksburg Frozen Food for 30 years. He also worked for Sack and Save and Wal-Mart in the meat department until he retired.
Melvin was a loving family man, so gentle, patient and kind. He loved doing yard work. His favorite was cutting grass. He always said he would rather cut grass than fish. He also enjoyed building things in his shop.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Marvin Marshall, his brother John Arvil Marshall, sisters Mavis Barnes and Rose Gardner.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Lundy Stevens Marshall, daughter Gail Jones (Kevin), grandchildren Leslie Williams (Kenny), Wesley Jones (Lucy), great-grandchildren Mikaylah Jones, Zoey Williams, Zackary Williams and Luke Kelly, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
With special gratitude and appreciation, we thank Melvin's caregivers Leonia Carter, Virginia Qualls and Jennifer for their kindness and love.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry West, Randy Barnes, Mike Stevens, Danny Marshall, Mark Stevens and Brad Clanton. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Porter's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.
