Monty Joe Baxley

Monty Joe Baxley of Edwards, MS, passed away on April 27, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on June 5, 1947, to W.A. and Montez Baxley in Jackson, MS. He trimmed a little off the top, and possibly some off the ears, for 45 years as a hoot of a barber. 

He married Jeanne on July 15, 1983, and together they shared 43 wonderful years. Monty Joe Baxley enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with loved ones. He was known for his kindness, jokes, and his ability to make anyone feel like family.  

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children, Bill Baxley (Julie), Rob Baxley, and Shannon Kavanaugh Hall; his grandchildren, Justin Baxley (Heather) and Emily Redditt; and his great-granddaughters, Kyla Baxley, Lainey Baxley, and Adalee Baxley. Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home on May 1, 2026, at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
