Nina Louise Anglin Price

Nina was born January 18, 1938, in Vicksburg, MS to James Monroe and Loevia Marie Anglin.  She grew up with her sister Sarah, brother Tom, half sister Margaret and half-brothers James and L.B. in central Mississippi, where her Dad was a lumber grader in the mills around Utica, Carpenter, Hermanville, and Port Gibson.  Nina graduated from Port Gibson High School in 1955 and began her long career in payroll and banking. 

While spending time at her Aunt’s service station in Port Gibson, she met John Price, who was driving for Standard Oil.  Within a few short months they were engaged and were married April 20, 1956.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2021 prior to the death of John. 

Following their marriage, they moved to Vicksburg and were blessed with two children, Richard and Charlotte.  In 1972 they settled in the Yokena area and built a successful farming and construction business together, in which Nina managed all of the financials and kept the household running smoothly. 

Nina was employed with First National Bank in the 1960’s, followed by over 20 years at Marathon LeTourneau.  She then rejoined Trustmark where she worked as a teller at the airport branch until her retirement in 1992 due to rheumatoid arthritis.  She then spent her time gardening, canning and enjoying her grandchildren.  Although she never traveled very far herself, she loved to share her family’s travel experiences through pictures and stories.  She enjoyed having coffee with her son and talking about the many places his work took him across America and abroad.  Retirement made it possible to travel with her daughter to places she had only dreamed of seeing with her own eyes.  Throughout her life the time spent with her family was her absolute joy! 

Nina was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 40 years before she joined Immanuel Baptist Church.  Her faith in Jesus Christ was evident throughout her life and she especially loved to study prophesy and the Book of Revelation. She knew God had a plan and a place for her and her faith gave her the strength to endure the pain of incurable rheumatoid as it slowly advanced through her body.  She never complained of her pain and instead always instilled in her family her Christian faith. Music was also very meaningful to her, and she always sang Hymns and Christmas songs as she worked in her home. 

Following her husband’s death, she moved next to her daughter and was cared for by many wonderful ladies.  Cortney Wash, Marita Smith, Tommie Hubbard, and Michele Bailey all provided loving care which enabled her to remain at home where she was happy.  The family cannot thank all of her caregivers and Visiting Angels staff enough for all they did for her over the past few years! 

Nina transitioned from this life on June 28, 2024, after several weeks of increasing health struggles and received peace in that place prepared for her.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, John Monroe Price, her parents, James Monroe and Loevia Marie Anglin, her sister Margaret Bailey Brown, brothers James ‘Shorty’ Bailey, L.B. Bailey, Jackie Bailey, and Tom Anglin. 
She is survived by her children, Richard Price (Cindy), and Charlotte Freeman (Mark); grandchildren Josh Price, Matthew Price (Maggie), Michael Freeman, Rita Freeman, and Lera Freeman; her sister Sarah Crisler, and several nieces and nephews.  

Pallbearers will be Devora Generalova and her five grandchildren, Josh Price, Matthew Price, Michael Freeman, Rita Freeman, and Lera Freeman.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Irons, Bob Hollingsworth and Mark Grace.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, with services at 11:00 at the chapel.  Internment will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery.
