Nita J. Augustine

Nita J. Augustine passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 82.

Nita was born on May 5, 1943, the daughter of Charles P. Shelly and Dora Simpson Shelly.  She retired from International Paper after serving 33 years as a mechanic.  Her greatest love was horses.  She bred quarter horses for 40 years at Augustine Quarter Horses.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Thomas Shelly and JoAnne Bond. 

She is survived by her son Reed Augustine (Jinny); boyfriend Larry Furr; grandchildren Autumn Sherrard and Austin Sherrard; great-grandchild Andrew Reed Sherrard and nieces and nephews T.J. Nicholson, Jessica Nicholson, Race Taylor, Tim Nicholson and Jennifer Taylor.
