Peggy Allison Blansett passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2024, at the age of 87.
Peggy was born on April 14, 1937, the daughter of Clarence Marvin “Bud” Allison and Minnie Graham Allison. She worked alongside her husband at Blansett’s Ornamental Iron and Construction for 37 years and owned and operated Redwood Country Store and Restaurant for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ben Blansett.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Lowery and Olie Blansett, and a son Sidney Meacham, grandchildren Allison Julia Elfer, Michelle Lowery Cole (Josh) and Bear Meacham (Brittany), and great-grandchildren McKenzie Cole, Caden Cole, Zoey Meacham and Ashley Meacham. She is also survived by Bob Hardy. Peggy and Bob were high school sweethearts who went their separate ways. They eventually found each other again after the passing of their spouses and he has been her most devoted companion ever since.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sheriff Martin Pace, LaTisha Nixon, Tony Haggard, Greg Haggard, Jeff Skipper, and Hayden Skipper. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Amborne, Richard Cowart, Bear Meacham, Dr. Lee Giffin, John Storey, Mike Keen, John Dolan, Richard Marcus, past employees of Blansett Ornamental Iron and Construction and all her doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church or the Haven House Family Shelter in Vicksburg.
