While surrounded by his family Richard Beasley passed away on Sept. 27, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Utica, MS spending most of his life in the Cayuga community. He had many aliases including Daddy, Grandaddy, Uncle Richard, Mr. Beasley and at times Killer or Fuzz. He was preceded in death by his wife Edie who surely asked him what took him so long to get there. He is survived by his four daughters Teresa Jones (Bill Flowers), Debbie Crow (Jerry), Melinda Dingler (Larry) and Ginny Augustine (Reed). He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and community members as who considered him family.
Richard spent his entire adult life perfecting the craft of small engine repair. There wasn’t a chainsaw that he couldn’t fix or a lawnmower he couldn’t get running again. For “leisure” he mended fences, baled hay, cut grass and strolled creek beds looking for driftwood. He served in the national guard for a short time.
He spent his final months at Willow Creek Retirement Center. During his short time there he made precious friends and received wonderful care. In leiu of flowers or food his family asks that donations be made to the activities fund at Willow Creek. Memorial donations can be sent to:
