Ronald S. Pownall, Sr.

Ronald S. Pownall, Sr., 74, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025. Born on November 3 to Bernie and Clarice Pownall, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bobby Pownall, and his great-granddaughter Bexlee-Kaye Nash. 

A proud Vicksburg native, Ron graduated from H.V. Cooper High School in 1970. He married the love of his life, Carol, and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage. Ron dedicated 35 years of his life working for Entergy, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Ron is survived by his wife Carol and loving children: Lauren Meier (Scott), Ronald S. Pownall, Jr. (Jennifer), David Lee (Brandie), and Dawn Lee. He is also survived by his brother Doug Pownall, sister Debbie Pownall, and cherished grandchildren: Chandler Meier (Hannah), Garrett Meier, Cooper Meier, Hope Pownall, Holt Pownall, Brittany Nash (Joey), Shelby Irons (Mari-Margaret), Christopher Lee (April), Jordan Lee, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He had a deep love in caring for his horses, dogs, and cats. Ron found great joy in spending time in the outdoors. He was also a passionate golfer, a devoted Mississippi State fan, and a longtime member of the Clear Creek Golf Course, Crossway Church, and the Grand Gulf Bass Club.

He adored his grandchildren and was known for his kind and generous spirit, always taking time to nurture and support his family. Ron will be remembered for his love of life, his devotion to family, and his unwavering faith.

A service to honor Ron’s life will be held at Crossway Church on March 20, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
