Sheila French Obituary

Sheila Dianne “Candy” French, 72, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022 in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. She was raised in Lake Providence, Louisiana and lived most of her life in the beautiful Delta. She was the beloved daughter of Cecil French and Vesta Van “Honey” Boyette French, who have preceded her in death.

Dianne was married to Rouie Spencer Hattaway, Jr., who preceded her in death. Mandy Hattaway was their only daughter until Dianne later married Wilson Hearn Harvey, Jr. His daughter Jennifer quickly became Dianne’s second daughter through marriage. Dianne lovingly dedicated this part of her life to keeping the two girls active in church, school, and extracurricular activities. She was a proud and loving mother. This was reflected in the many photos she kept on display of these two beautiful girls and their families.

Mandy Hattaway Windham is a Rolling Fork, Mississippi resident and is married to Thomas Grey Windham. Their two children, Helen Christine and Spencer Grey, filled “Candy’s” life with an abundance of love. “Candy” lived down the street from Helen and Spencer. Being present and active in their lives brought her great joy!

Jennifer Harvey Sabados is a resident of Duxbury, Massachusetts and is married to Jeff Sabados. “Candy” kept a close relationship with their children Adeline, Stella, and Harvey through their frequent visits and photos. “Candy” felt blessed to have five loving grandchildren.

She is also survived by three siblings and their respective spouses. Her sister, Vanice French (Baja California, Mexico) and two brothers, Kenneth French (New York City, New York) and Christopher French, (Kilbourne, Louisiana) will miss her dearly. Additionally, Dianne’s nieces and nephews loved having her be a big part of their lives.

For many years, Dianne enjoyed being part of book clubs, cooking clubs, and Bible Studies. She was quick to come to the aid of those in need. Dianne loved nature, pets, laughing, and being with her family and good friends. She will be dearly missed by us all.
