Shirley Collins Obituary

Shirley Richardson Collins passed away on March 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born on October 18, 1943, in the Stephenstown community in Neshoba County to Alfred Lee Richardson and Sarah Lillis Richardson. After moving to Vicksburg in 1966, she owned and operated Rebel Welding and Industrial Supply for 32 years with her late husband, Bill, along with other Vicksburg businesses.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she taught Mission Friends and was a greeter on Sunday mornings. She taught both children’s and youth classes and served on various committees at Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her work with First Baptist and Calvary, she served with the Red Cross and was a member of the Openwood Garden Club. She was very active in the early years of Porters Chapel Academy where her four sons attended school, along with many of her future grandchildren.

You knew what Shirley held closest to her heart: her faith in God, her family, and the many treasured friendships she built over a lifetime. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and maw. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley’s legacy is one of faithfulness, love, and joy. As we remember her, we find comfort knowing she is finally home in that beautiful Beulah Land for which she longed.

She was proceeded in death by parents, brothers Willie Richardson and Edward Richardson, sister Ann Richardson Williamson, grandson Jacob Ryan Collins, and husband Bill Collins.

She is survived by sons, Jeff Collins (Nicole), Bryan Collins (Allyson), Chris Collins (Heather) and Marty Collins (Michelle), grand children Jessica Fairchilds (Lance), Andrew Collins (Katie), Zac Collins, Abigail O’Pry (Brannon), Megan Hill (Raleigh), Ryan Collins (Shelbi), Bradley Collins (Victoria), Kaitlin Jenkins (Dustin), Emily Davis (Jacob), Ryan Boyd (Kaylan), Lindsey Brakefield, and great-grandchildren Marlee Brakefield, William Brakefield, Helen Fairchilds, Laura Fairchailds, Ann Collins O’Pry, Saylor Davis, Ezra Jenkins, Jonah Jenkins, Jake Boyd, and brother Harold Richardson (Glenda), sisters-in-law Creasy Richardson and June Richardson, and brother-in-law Johnny Williamson.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Glenwood Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jimmy Henry and Dr. Johnny Collins. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
