Shirley Womack Obituary

Shirley Gail Womack, a resident of Utica, passed away Sunday, July 27th at home surrounded by family and loved ones after a battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.

Shirley worked for many years at Hinds Community College in Utica and spent over 20 years at McDonald’s. Whether at work or in the community, she was known for her kindness, dedication, and warm smile. Even on the job, she treated everyone like family. She was known for always having a “candy bowl” filled to the top for everyone at work. Shirley had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She believed every person was special and deserving of kindness. With a generous heart and uplifting spirit, she brightened lives wherever she went. Her love language was gift-giving—she found joy in thoughtful gestures that made others feel special. She deeply loved her family and especially cherished her grandchildren. But above all, she was incredibly proud of her daughters. They were her greatest joy, and her love for them showed in everything she did.

Shirley’s gentle spirit, joyful smile, and giving heart made her someone everyone loved. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Warren Cecil Womack, Sr, and her brother Warren Cecil Womack, Jr.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Erica Lucas and Katina McCorry (Jason), her mother Lillie Mae Carraway and stepfather Bill Carraway, her brother Kirk Womack, and her grandchildren, Joshua Corban, Anna Marie Carraway, Heaven Chamberlin, Abagail Corban, Jesse Corban, and Jett McCorry.

There will be a graveside service at the Cayuga cemetery on Wednesday, July 30th at 11:00am. It was Shirley’s request that attendees wear blue.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Vance, David Jones, Larry Chambiss, Ronnie Daniels, Allen Lee, and Walker Wright.

Honarary Pallbearers will be Jason McCorry, Josh Hathaway, Joshua Corban, Michael Bryant, Jason Bryant, Claude Reese, Jack Hollingsworth and Lowel Mims
