Steven Ray Green

Steven Ray Green, 73, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Baptist Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi. He was born June 11, 1953, to Muriel and Nancy Mae Green. Although an only child, his cousins loved him as a brother. He and Beverly had a very special love and adoration for each other. He was a devoted husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Georgie Green; maternal grandparents, John and Zera Brasher, and parents, Muriel and Nancy Mae Green. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Charlotte B. Green of Tallulah, Louisiana, and daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Green of Beardstown, Illinois. He is also survived by lifelong friends, Howard Zeigler, Len Laughman, and Stan Taylor, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Steve began employment with the U. S. Postal Service serving as Postmaster of the St. Joseph, Louisiana, Post Office in 1973 and retired in June 2012 after 39 years.

In Steve’s childhood years, he was a cub scout and boy scout. Later in life, he coached little league baseball; thoroughly enjoyed waterskiing, fishing, hunting, playing golf, and watching football games. He was a die hard LSU fan. He loved high school football games so much, he became a high school football game referee. For a short period of time, he taught the 5th-6th grade boys in Sunday School at the First Baptist Church.

Services are July 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Tallulah, Louisiana, with Rev. Craig West officiating. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 5930 Warriors Trail, Bovina, Mississippi.

Pallbearers are David Godfrey, Danny Tuggle, Tim Tuggle, Richard Brasher, Howard Zeigler, Nic Berry, and Hudson Berry.

Honorary pallbearers ae Cliff Chiles, Gene Berry, John Bivens, Ronnie Wisenor, Greg LeFleur, Brian Marble, and Barry Marble.
