Thomas Jobe Obituary

Thomas Leroy “Tommy” Jobe, age 79, went to be with his Lord on Friday, September 4, 2020. He was born June 26, 1941, in Tallulah, Louisiana. He died at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe, Louisiana, from complications caused by COVID-19 double pneumonia.

Tommy worked for Tallulah Water Service for 44 plus years. He loved horses and his beagle dogs. He enjoyed hunting rabbits with his dogs and friends. He could tell you the name of the dog just by the bark while they were chasing rabbits. He was a member of Mound Baptist Church, but he attended First Baptist Church in Tallulah since his wife, Marie, died.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Tate Jobe; his parents, James B. “Jimmy” Jobe, Jr. and Lillie Mae Miller Jobe; two brothers, James E. “Sonny” Jobe and Robert S. “Rabbit” Jobe; five sisters, Kathleen Jobe Marshall, Erma Lee Jobe Carrender, Jennie Jobe Wilhite, Nellie Mae Jobe Simmons, and Melba Jean Jobe.

He is survived by two sisters, Marie Jobe Castle (Judd), and Linda Jobe Vines (Huey), both of Vicksburg, Mississipippi; one brother, Ray Jobe (Peggy) of Tallulah, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Connor and Shirley Tate; two brothers-in-law, Charles Tate and Bill Tate; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Tommy will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, Louisiana, with Rev. Craig West officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Carlton Whitaker, Todd Moore, Tim Jobe, JoJo Patty, Allen Jobe, and Stephen Jobe. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Jobe, Cecil Wells, Dick Brown, Charles Grady, David Jobe, Joe Jobe, Jimmy Jobe, Judd Castle, and Newtie Simmons.
