Valerie Katzenmier Obituary

Valerie Ann Katzenmier, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on February 25, 2021. Born on December 10, 1944, Ann spent her childhood years growing up in Port Gibson, MS, where she was also a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Port Gibson High School and then attended Belhaven College in Jackson, MS.  While attending college, she met her husband, Wayne Coleman, Sr., and they were married in 1966.

After moving to California, Ann was employed by JBL Co. as office manager. With a strong passion for helping others, she also worked on Prop 13, helping to improve education in California. Ann moved back home to Port Gibson in 1994 to help care for her father, following her mother's death. She was very active in the civic community of the town for many years. Ann enjoyed life and helping friends in wedding planning, class reunions, and other special events.

Preceding Ann in death were her loving and devoted parents, O.B. and C.Y. Katzenmier of Port Gibson. A beloved mom and "Nana" to her family, Ann is survived by a daughter, Valerie Coleman Jackson; son, Wayne Coleman, Jr., grandson Robert Davis, Jr., (wife, Melody Davis); great-grandchildren, Viviana, Robert, Jr., Charles, and Marley; and a very special friend, James Hill.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service. A graveside service will  be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
