Warren Nevels Jr. passed away July 29th, 2025 surrounded by friends and family.
Warren was born in Vicksburg, MS on March 3rd, 1958. He was the son of Warren Nevels Sr. and Shirley Sherrard Nevels Estraca. Warren grew up in Vicksburg and established his family here. He married Denise Van Norman and had three beautiful children, Scott Nevels, Jason Nevels, and Keeley Haigh.
Warren is proceeded in death by Warren Nevels Sr. (father), Shirley Sherrard Nevels Estraca (mother), Jason Nevels (son), and Lisa Nevels (sister).
He is survived by his dedicated, faithful, and loving wife Denise; his children Scott Nevels and Keeley Haigh; his grandchildren Madisyn Miller Atkins (Ryan Atkins), Kristiana Nevels, Abigayl Haigh (Stephen Hughes), and Leland Haigh; and his great grandchildren Brooklyn Hughes, Wesley Atkins, and Amelie Atkins; Sisters Tammy Jilbert, Theresa Nevels; Brothers Randy Nevels, Ronnie Nevels (Wendy); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Warren was the true definition of a hard working man. He provided and led his family with grace and honor. He worked for Ergon Marine for over 27 years as a boat captain. Throughout that time he also taught many people and made many friends. Warren considered the employees of Ergon as family members.
His family was everything to him. Warren and Denise were together for 50 years. He loved his wife unconditionally and made a beautiful family and life together. He was a loving father to his children. He loved taking his grandchildren to play outside to catch bugs to scare Denise, make beignets, and share crackers and cheese. He became his great grandchildren’s, Brooklyn Hughes and Wesley Atkins, favorite person in the whole world.
Though he will be missed deeply, we are at peace knowing he is not suffering and was welcomed with open arms by family members in heaven.
Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home on August 2nd at 10am with a service to follow at 11am led by Pastor Roger Cresswell. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS.
