Wilma Cooper, 84, of Vicksburg, MS, passed away peacefully in her home on July 30, 2025, surrounded by family.
Wilma was born September 18, 1940, in Vicksburg, MS. She was a graduate of Redwood High School. Wilma married Jack, her high school sweetheart and husband of 68 years. Jack remained at her side until death.
She loved large family gatherings that occurred regularly to her delight. Wilma also enjoyed her work as an administrative assistant at Warren Junior High School. There she met many of her closest friends.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Jack, children, Cindy Cooper Blackmon (Mickey) and Jay Cooper (Barb), her brother, Tom Allison (Rose), her sister, Kristy Allison Luckett (Ben), her sister-in-law, Sally Porter, her grandchildren, Joshua (Alisha) and Bradley (Justine) Blackmon, Anna Grace Cooper, Meg Cooper Long (Christian) and Emma Cooper Robb (Daniel), her great grandchildren, Ali Blackmon, Jackson Blackmon, Madisyn Blackmon, Elliana Blackmon, and Lowen Long, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded by her mother and father, John and Catherine Allison, and her brother, Jimmy Allison.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August 1, 2025, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, MS. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. A brief graveside service will be held immediately afterwards at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joshua Blackmon, Bradley Blackmon, Jackson Blackmon, Terrell Porter, Christian Long, and Daniel Robb. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Oakes, Ted Long, Charlie Jones, Jim Richards, Blake Mendrop, Steve Mabry, Mike Rolman, Scott Cox, Jim Neblett, Tom Allison, Billy Whitten, Larry Whitten, Willis Britt, and Bob Gordon.
We would like to thank Ariel Self and Linda Bell for care provided to Wilma. We would also like to thank CenterWell Home Health, Merit Health River Region (Nurses Azzie, Ivy, and Jennifer and Dr Porter), and St Joseph Hospice. We would also like to acknowledge the special friendship and encouragement provided by her card playing buddies Denise, Ruth, and Sonya.
